Learn to Let Go- Focus on Your Talent

All in all I’m a nice guy. I tend to just go with the flow, but it takes an enormous amount of patience to deal with negative people.

Sometimes you need to take the things people do or say, in stride. Sometimes people are used to getting their way. Other times people are afraid of change. They lash out in their own ways. Can be passive aggressive or downright painful.

What can you do?

Roll with the punches…at first. Learn to fight off that feeling of anger or hurt you feel about to consume you. In the end it’s not worth it, since it won’t change the situation one bit.

You need to let go.

If individuals can’t see the benefit of having you around…let go.
If people say things to hurt you to make themselves feel better…let go.
If people would rather ignore you and go do what they want at your expense…let go.

Focus on what you know makes you different and special.
Focus on your talent.

It’s the one thing that has always been there for you. It’s the one thing that’s always helped you through all the negativity. Don’t get yourself stuck in the business of winning people over who treat you like dirt. Find common bonds.Surround yourself with positive people who appreciate you for you.

Your talent and those who care are all you need to get by.
Nothing more, nothing less.

The Artists Struggle - Why we do what we do

Sometimes you wonder why you keep doing what you do. Some days it feels like every single thing you do backfires in your face. Is it a lack of talent? Is it a lack of inspiration? Is it someone else? All three? The correct answer is…none of the above.

It’s you.

You’ve found other things to blame other than yourself. You’ve found excuses and you stand by them persuasively.

You know what you need to do. You have the talent within you. So…get to it. Your excuses are worthless to everyone. They could care less. The excuses only hurt you. Your work, essentially, only has value to you. That’s not to say you won’t inspire others in the process.

What does this mean? It means go use your talent.

You will be relentless. You will have courage. And you will create art you know in your heart is not as good as you want it to be. You’ll want to quit.
